List of Ibiza’s Smoke-Free Beaches: A Breath of Fresh Air for Families

Written on 05/05/2025

You know that moment when you finally settle into your spot on the beach, your little one is happily digging moats for their sandcastle masterpiece… and then a cloud of cigarette smoke drifts over from a nearby group? Ugh, no thanks. Or worse — the baby digs up a soggy cigarette butt buried in the sand and think it's eatable. Enough to ruin the magic, right?

Well, good news, families! A beautiful initiative is spreading across our beloved island: more and more beaches in Ibiza (and the whole Balearics) are going smoke-free — and it’s a total win for kids, parents, and Mother Nature. Thanks to the joint effort of the General Directorate of Mental Health and the Natural Environment & Forest Management, our beaches are becoming cleaner, healthier spaces where kids can play freely without smoke in their lungs or trash in their sandcastles.

So next time you head out with your beach bags and sandy snacks, you can breathe a little easier — literally.  Below are some of Ibiza’s gorgeous smoke-free beaches where you and your little beach explorers can roam wild and carefree.

Here is the updated list of the smoke-free beaches in Ibiza where families can breathe easy:

1. Platges de Comte (Cala Conta)
Known for its turquoise waters and breathtaking sunsets, Platges de Comte comprises several coves ideal for swimming and snorkeling. The beach's shallow waters make it a hit with families.

2. Cala d'Hort
Situated in the municipality of Sant Josep de sa Talaia, Cala d'Hort offers stunning views of the mystical Es Vedrà island. This beach combines sandy and pebbly areas and the best Paella restaurant of Ibiza: El Carmen, making it perfect for both relaxation and exploration.

3. Caló des Moro
A small urban cove in San Antonio, Caló des Moro with a sandy beach and calm waters. It's a favorite among locals and tourists alike, but does get pretty busy compared to the others.  All-though the smoke-free sign is up, in this area some doubt exists if the crowd honours it.

4. Es Cavallet
Part of the Ses Salines Natural Park, Es Cavallet is a long stretch of white sand backed by dunes. It's one of Ibiza's official nudist beaches but welcomes a diverse crowd, including families who appreciate its natural beauty.

5. Cala de Sant Vicent
Located on the northeastern coast, Cala de Sant Vicent boasts an extremely wide, golden sandy beach with crystal-clear waters. Surrounded by pine-covered hills (okay and also one massive hotel), it's a tranquil spot ideal for families seeking a peaceful day by the sea.

By choosing these smoke-free beaches, families contribute to a healthier environment and ensure that Ibiza remains a pristine paradise for generations to come.
