Hey there, fellow Ibiza moms and dads! 🌞 We've discovered some fantastic, free family activities that have brought endless joy to our little ones—and to us grown-ups too! Here's a bubbly roundup of our top picks:
1. Nature scavenger hunts in Ses Salines Natural Park
One sunny spring morning, we gathered a group of fellow parents and their kiddos for an epic scavenger hunt in Parque Natural de Ses Salines. Armed with handmade treasure maps and a list of nature's hidden gems—like unique leaves, feathers, and shiny shells—we set off on our adventure. The kids' excitement was contagious as they raced along the trails, eyes peeled for the next clue. By the time we uncovered the "treasure" (a box of homemade treats), their smiles were as bright as the Ibiza sun! Not only did we all get a dose of fresh air and exercise, but we also learned so much about our island's flora and fauna. Great suggestion for some group fun. And nice to end it with a picnic!

2. Kite-Flying fun at Es Codolar beach
Who says winter winds are a nuisance? At Es Codolar, they’re your ticket to high-flying fun! On breezy afternoons we love to do kite flying with our daughter. The pure joy on your little one's face as soon as they guide their kite against the clear blue sky is priceless. After a few hilarious attempts (and kites nosediving into the pebbles), they will get the hang of it. A fantastic way to bond and work together, while enjoying the island's natural beauty without spending a cent.
3. Beach Art at Niu Blau
If you are the type of family that loves turning a beach day into an art session, then Niu Blau is the perfect canvas. Here you can collect driftwood, leaves from the beautiful woody sides of the beach and shells to create whimsical sculptures or sand art. One time, our daughter crafted a "mermaid palace" complete with shell adornments. It's incredible to see creativity blossom. We personally love to end with sandy hands and happy hearts.
4. Storytelling hikes to Cala d'Albarca
Combining adventure with imagination, our hikes to Cala d'Albarca have become legendary in our household. As we trek through the scenic trails, we weave tales inspired by the surroundings. "Once upon a time, in a forest much like this..." With a little bag filled with inspirational texts to improvise on diffrent momens together a fairytal is made during the hike. The kids add their twists, turning our hikes into interactive storytelling sessions. It's a delightful way to keep them engaged and foster a love for nature and creativity.
5. Join local town Fiestas!
One of the perks of living in Ibiza is the vibrant local fiestas. We've danced with kids in the streets during the 25th-anniversary celebration of Ibiza's UNESCO World Heritage designation, marveled at drone shows lighting up the night sky, and enjoyed countless concerts, arts & crafts workshops and exhibitions. These events are treasure troves of free entertainment and cultural immersion for the whole family.
6. Countryside Flower Picking
Living "en el campo," our family made it a tradition of wandering the countryside to pick wildflowers. Our daughter loves creating bouquets to surprise me or daddy, and it's a gentle reminder of the simple joys nature offers. Plus, it's a wonderful way to slow down and appreciate the island's year-round beauty.
So, fellow parents, let's embrace Ibiza's off-season charm and create unforgettable memories with our families. After all, the best adventures are often the simplest—and they don't cost a thing!
